A New Look for Poverello House

By | July 6, 2017

Our house was recently improved greatly by not just one, but two, Boy Scouts from Troop 99 from Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church. The boys were both working on their Eagle Scout rank.  Each Scout had a project that included making tremendous improvements to the house. One project was a complete renovation of the front yard including repairing the front gate and walls, making it look much better and desert eco-friendly. Thanks to Boy Scout Matthew Cuglietta and his parents Chrissy and Frank for coordinating this project and the dozens of volunteers who helped make this effort a reality. The second project was to paint the entire exterior of the house. A new color scheme was chosen of tan and dark brown. The combined effort, as my neighbor put it, “makes your house the best looking house in the neighborhood.” Thanks to Boy Scout Brandon Haddad and his parents Nadia and Eddie Haddad for coordinating this effort and to all the volunteers who assisted in making this happen. We of the Poverello House and all the Board of Directors really appreciate it, as do the guests. Several guests told me they walked past the house not recognizing it. One even called me from the end of the block and wanted to know what happened to the house, thinking that it had suddenly vanished!
